Rent to own is really not a good idea, therefore consider fixing whatever is preventing you from purchasing outright. Rent to own can be risky and one could stand to lose a bit of money, it favors the owner; therefore inform yourself well in advance of your search, and consider consulting with an attorney who specializes in real estate before considering the idea and or before signing any agreement. If you haven't done so yet, visit with any licensed loan officer, see if you can buy outright, or simply continue renting until a purchase can be made. ... more

From my understanding any property that accepts Section 8 Vouchers must be approved by the local Section 8 office. Each property that is in the program must pass all inspections/requirements and is usually already active on the list of available homes they provide you. Your best option is your local office. ... more

I have no interest in buying because we're a military family and have no interest in residing in Alabama. It seems as if realtors wants to sell...and lose interest in giving availability…

You may want to look on Section8.com. It's actually the best place to start your search this way you know ALL the homes listed there will take your housing voucher. The next best place to look is in the Huntsville Times and you actually don't even have to purchase the news paper you can just look at it online using this website: http://www.al.com/huntsvilletimes/ Make sure that you click on Classifieds and put in your requirements for rental. Some homes will list that they take it others will not but it's always worth asking.

Lastly I'd check with the Housing Office they keep a LONG list of homes with landlords who are willing to accept Section 8. The only thing about this list is I'm not sure how often it's updated the last time I helped a client look through the list half of the homes were already rented, sold, or had numbers that were disconnected.

Also, PLease ask the office about their program for purchasing a home. Huntsville has a program that will help you to buy a home and will still help with your mortgage payment for a set number of years just like renting except you will be the homeowner.

Ryan,
Researching 128 Cloverridge Drive, I believe it has only an eat in kitchen. So it's a large kitchen with a bar that seperates the kitchen from the eating area. This is based upon previous listings for that address that I have pulled. If you would like to call me for rentals in this area, I'd be glad to help you out. Sally Sue,

There is nothing active on Cloverridge. If you are looking for a home valley MLS is the best place to start. All of these websights pull from there. Also, hudhomestore.com and homepath.com are great locations for accurate information. Please call me if you have any questions or would like to see any home. I can email you a list of homes in your price range and target area if you like.

Don’t you just love when an agent 3 thousand miles away has a better answer than those of us who put our blood, sweat, and tears into working this area. Many Realtors do turn up a nose at a rental, for me it is another opportunity to help you move one step closer to buying. Read my bio! Unlike the agents below I will tell you that usually an agent, other than the listing agent who has an interest in what the property rents for, will do a much better job at negotiating a great rental price when they make the same commission regardless of what your monthly rent is.
