Rent to own is really not a good idea, therefore consider fixing whatever is preventing you from purchasing outright. Rent to own can be risky and one could stand to lose a bit of money, it favors the owner; therefore inform yourself well in advance of your search, and consider consulting with an attorney who specializes in real estate before considering the idea and or before signing any agreement. If you haven't done so yet, visit with any licensed loan officer, see if you can buy outright, or simply continue renting until a purchase can be made. ... more

Homes above the Rt. 80 circle are sometimes less desirable if you have children in junior high and high school. Children are usually involved in many activities after school and weekends - be it sports' teams, school plays and the like. This could attribute to the reason so many homes are for sale on Devonshire - these families may want to move closer to town. ... more

Hi Red, As an agent along the shoreline, I can tell you that the real estate market under $400,000 is very active. You do have the ability to negotiate the price and as always, the property has to appraise in order for you to obtain your mortgage. Your agent will guide you to present an offer based not only on the comparables but other factors including but not limited to the condition and location. Give me a call at 203-430-9643 or e-mail me at ccusano@wpsir.com. Take a look at my professional bio at shorelinehousesforsale.com. Good Luck! ... more
