Stan Botello & Gary Senser answered:
Manhattan Beach is comprised of 4 primary sections, each with unique and appealing neighborhood amenities. The Tree Section has very strong family appeal, with quiet streets and a park-like setting. It's composed mostly of single family homes, with full lots starting at 40 ft X 112 ft. The tree section is located just east of the Sand Section, which has higher density living (with more apartments and townhomes). Every Manhattan Beach neighborhood has access to outstanding schools - some of the best nationwide. ... more

Please check with the city. We found a home in West Covina that had the garage converted into living space and square footage was given as living space by appraiser. Contractor claimed everything was legal, just depends when permits were given if in fact they were. Maybe it was grandfathered in? Good luck. ... more

Good Day Hieru,

The area in which you are thinking of buying is a district in South Los Angeles known as Hyde Park. Having lived in the general vicinity for over 20 years, I can say that the area gets a C on my safety scale. While it isn't extremely gang or murder infested, there are a few unsavory characters that tend to linger around the popular PM destinations (such as the liquor store and motels on crenshaw). If you are someone who enjoys walking their neighborhood, this might mean scheduling those walks before 8pm to avoid any anxiety or unwelcomed attention. On the other hand if you're someone who's looking to join the neighborhood block, I would reccomend elsewhere. Security Systems provide peace of mind, and the added protection of armed security in some cases. If you believe that I have answered your question to your liking, please feel free to pay me a call at (310) 665-1145 and I'll be honored to assist you in taking the very next steps in purchasing your home. ... more

Arielle answered:
I suggest looking in certain areas of the San Fernando Valley such as Sherman Oaks, Woodland Hills, a few other cities and even into the Burbank area. There are many reasonably priced homes there and it's a good family area. With many different schools to choose from the in the valleys, your children can safely walk to and from school. You have easy access to the 405, 5, 101, and 170 freeways which makes it very easy to work in LA and live in the valley. ... more

Ted Canto answered:

There is nothing wrong about the answers in here. The truth is you yourself can get into trouble answering the questions (i.e. Go back to your RE schooling) .. This has nothing to do with whether you live there or not. FYI.. I lived in Woddland Hills so I do know Glendale very much as I worked there for many years.

You are a REALTOR and cannot give any preference to any area regardless of your friends orientation or lifestyle. PERIOD!

The answers here about boundries, pricing, etc. relative to Manhattan Beach are pretty well detailed below. The next step would be to get pre-qualified for a home loan so you can see exactly how far your purchasing dollar will go.

From there, get yourself a solid Buyer's Agent who can help you locate the best buys and the right home for you. If I can be of assistance, please call me anytime in my Manhattan Beach office at (310) 802-5736.
