As a lifelong resident of Manhattan Beach I'd have to say yes. Perfect city for young adults. Miles of sandy beaches, great nightlife, and wonderful people.

I lived in Woodland Hills for 29 years and just recently moved to Agoura a year ago. To be quite honest, I would rate them about the same. They both have all levels of dining, from casual to formal, and all ethnicities. There are great local spots at each. Agoura has a couple of breweries that are not chains, and has some good local health food spots. If you are looking for particular types of food, please let me know and I can be more specific. ... more

Santa Monica is a great place to live. It has some of the best shopping in the world, restaurants, some of the best night clubs in Southern California, the 3rd Street Promenade has now just expanded and ends with a huge mall called the Santa Monica Place, tons of activities for the whole family, great weather, and top rated schools. I would recommend checking out the local demographics for Santa Monica. Feel free to visit my website and find out more about Santa Monica.

Have a great day,

I can't resist this one, social scene, night life, and Lakewood doesn't really come together in my mind. It is a family neighborhood. Nightlife in Lakewood is probably the mall and movies. But within 30 miles radius there is EVERYTHING! Lakers, Dodgers Angels, amusement parks, clubs, ocean, skiing even. You just go home to Lakewood to rest. ... more

Honestly? It has some nice places, but the gangs and the homeless don't make it so nice anymore. Take it from someone who lives near there and is trying to get out. Trust me, it's not the prettiest social setting in the country. Try Belmont, they're much better and your less likely to get your money stolen.

For a unique, real music lover's setting where you can hear national headliners, check out the jazz bakery in Culver City. Although I miss the coffee cake they used to serve in the back of the hall during the breaks, this is still the place to go. Cover charges are affordable (it's a non-profit) and unlike most jazz venues this is not a bar or restaurant (although there is a high-end concession just outside the hall). This is an intimate concert hall for the sole purpose of listening to music. Of course there are others.... ... more

Dining in Manhattan Beach has seen some big changes in the last 10 years. We have many choices from beach casual to fine dining. Some fun places to go are Grunions on Saturday night for their $14 prime rib special. This is a great local spot. In downtown Manhattan Beach Mama D's on Manhattan Ave is a place that is kid friendly with lots of pasta dishes to choose from. Rocking Fish is another fun casual restaurant where you can get a great meal in a friendly place. Beaches, at the corner, has the best view in town overlooking the Pier at Ocean Avenue. Across the street is Mangiamos a truly fabulous upscale Italian restaurant. Think something special in Naples and you have the idea. Take a turn east and there is Café Pierre.. This is a French Bistro the French would love. One of our newest restaurants is Petros a terrific Greek restaurant in the Metlox Center. Indoor and patio dining plus incredible food make this a wonderful addition to our city. Looking for breakfast.. don't miss Uncle Bills and the Koffee Kart.. you may have to wait a bit but you will be glad you did. Looking for a quick bite then the Kettle is the place.. a 24 hour café where you can grab some eggs early before 6:00 am or some coffee and desert after a night at the Civic Light Opera. ... more
