Rental scams are common here and on any site that allows the general public to post. Please be very cautious with deals that seem too good to be true. NEVER send money expecting keys back by mail.
You can search the address in any search engine to see how the homes are advertised elsewhere. If one listing is much cheaper than other places, it's likely a scam.

Read the scam warning Trulia posts. I've attached a link to it below.

When you find a questionable listing please go to the More button on the listing and then hit the FLAG button on the listing page to warn Trulia and others or email it to

I agree with the others here, It takes awhile to make any money - I think it was 6 months before I received a commission check. Hopefully, you have a day job which means you can pursue real estate in the evenings and weekends.

Best of luck to you.

Hi Surfing,

It is not hard to start over at 45 on a new career as a real estate agent if you have great PASSION for real estate and have a large sphere of influence who are financially qualified and are willing to work with you to buy or sell their home. Annette is right on with her answer, you have to have a defined business plan.

Here is the secret on how most new agents starting out in this business can end up having $100K in their bank acount at the end of their first year in business?

They start out with $200K in their bank account upon getting their real estate license.

If you have the passion and a know that this is not a get rich quick scheme, you will succeed.

All the best,

Good evening Jennie,

I agree with totally with Grant. I'm almost certain that your agent has a good grasp on the details of your situation. For instance, what your needs and wants are; resources and purchasing power you posess; value and condition of the home you are negotiating for; etc. Your agent will have trustworthy and sound advice on the negotiation.

I would not attempt to question the owner, if I were you...

If you would like to make sure you are being advised, well, then you should ask for a meeting with your agent and the OP (top broker in your agent's office).

All the best and good luck with your deal,

There are several options, depending on your child's age, ability, instrument, and location. The most simple is to find out if his school has a program, or if their are any local community groups. Most local musician's stores will know of available local groups. A high caliber musician should check out the following: (LA Youth Orrchestra) or (LACO)
Youth Orchestra LA (YOLA) is the LA Phil's initiative, supported by a network of stakeholders, to provide access to exceptional instrumental and orchestral education in order to promote youth development. Central to YOLA is the LA Phil's plan to build, with community partners, youth orchestras in communities throughout Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Children's Orchestra (LACO) is considered one of the finest children's orchestras in the world. Children throughout Southern California come to participate in this orchestra. In addition to winning top honors at prestigious regional and national competitions, SPCO has been featured on local and national television and has appeared in numerous publications. In 2009 the orchestra won the World Record for the youngest orchestra ever recorded to perform at Carnegie Hall.
Hope this helps.
