Sites such as Trulia gather data from a variety of sources, including tax records from the county assessors offices, Core Logic, MLS services and various syndicators. Obviously, not all information is accurate or up to date.
I have 2 suggestions to your problem. You can claim your home on Trulia and update the property information under the "owner information" section to display the correct data. Or you can email Trulia at Support@trulia.com and ask them to block the public record data on your property record.
Trulia Support does not generally monitor these forums, the questions are usually answered by real estate agents.
you never know why people do what they do. Mybe it was from a person to a trust and to keep the trust from paying alot in document stamps, etc.. they sell it to themselves through the trust for less, or to let keep the tax value of the property down if the person whose name it is now under maybe homesteading it , to many factors to consider. Mainly I would think for tax purposes for sure though
