Joan,
All commissions are negotiable by law. What this means is that one agent may say X% and another Y% and you can find out what they do for their pay. You can offer them Z% and they may or may not be able to adjust what their office or company prescribes.
Interview some agents and see what they do, what they charge, what their success record is and how well they understand your goals.
The reason I'm not giving you a number is that it could be considered a violation of Anti-Trust laws.
Not all low priced agents are a bargain and not all high priced agents are necessarily full service. The choice you make should be based more on the quality and track record of the agent than the commission they charge. A great agent is worth more than whatever you pay them, but a bad one can cost you more than just the commission. Best of luck.

Timeshares are never a good investment. You can only use them for a certain time each year, and the upkeep payments on them are not worth it. When you go to sell them, you never get the price you paid. In the long run you'd be better off renting places in different locations each vacation. You aren't locked into one place that way. ... more

Dear Gina:

Closing costs tend to be around 3-4% of the purchase price for buyers; sellers it is less. A breakdown of general closing costs can be found here:

Are you still closing on the 31st ? Why is there no mortgage commitment ? Sounds like your agent or the buyers lender has dropped the ball.
