When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local authorities with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Rodney makes an excellent point. Although the references he points to are reasons why we SHOULDN'T talk about crime, the BIGGEST reason we shouldn't is: we are not criminologists.

People ask Real Estate Licensees questions because we are experts, and when we answer OUTSIDE of our FIELD OF EXPERTISE, we take on the LIABILITY of an expert.

So, we're never going to tell you a neighborhood is safe, because something can happen anywhere. Anywhere? Any where.

The best way to approach this, is to have you call me and we can look at the listing. There are resources, i.e. MARTA transit, bus, et. al that you can call to make that determination. However, it would be best if we spoke to determine your need and provide options that will accomodate you and your mother.

My # is 404-427-4579.

Looking forward to discussing this with you!

Real estate agents are not allowed to comment on a variety of topics. The Fair Housing Act restricts the information that can be provided by a real estate agent.

Off Limit Topics Include:
• Crime Statistic (including questions about whether a neighborhood is good or bad or safe)
• Demographics
• Environmental Concerns
• Household Income
• Religion
• Schools (including questions about how good or bad the school is)

Determining to the answers to questions on any of the topics listed above is something that you would need to do on your own. It is up to the individual to make their own determination about a specific area. If a real estate agent were to comment on such a thing, it could be steering which is a prohibited act.
