Hi Moxieblue,

Your home would need to be in the zone registered for Green Valley High School in order to ride the bus but you may be able to get a waiver. The best place to check on this would be the Clark County School District as zoning changes are made each year.

Let me know if I can help you with any other questions.
Thanks so much,
Carolyn

Donna Hodge answered:
Hi Ricardo,
I don't know which particular school you are asking about, as that information is not included in your question. However, most public schools in Clark County are on the same format, which is Kindergarten through 5th Grade in an elementary school, 6th through 8th in a middle school, and 9th through 12th in a high school. There are some limited exceptions so each zoning area needs to be checked, but chances are the school you're interested in follows this structure. If you'd like to get the information for a specific address or area, let us know and we'll check that out for you.

I am mainly familiar with the colleges - UNLV & CSN.

UNLV currently has two functional campuses. There is the main campus near Maryland Pkwy & Tropicana Ave., and there is also a UMC Dental department on Charleston Blvd. & Shadow Lane. I have seen signs near Durango and the 215 freeway for UNLV's Research & Technology Park. Not sure what's going on there, but you may look in a search engine for "UNLV Research Park" and find some good information for what lies ahead for that particular site.

CSN - which stands for "College of Southern Nevada" used to be called CCSN (Community College of Southern Nevada). Why they changed the name I am not sure, but they have expanded quite a bit over the years. There are several campuses: Charleston, Cheyenne, Henderson, Green Valley, Sahara, Summerlin, Bonanza, and even a campus on Nellis Air Force Base.

If you have any other questions I'll be happy to assist.

That is a matter of preference. I know people with children at almost all of the local catholic churches who would argue theirs is best. My advise is to google the list of schools and then start reviewing them. Arrange to meet directors at your top choices. ... more

Being a former teacher in the Clark County School District, I am very qualified to answer this question. I also am a parent of a Bishop Gorman graduate so I am doubly qualified. Bishop Gorman is the only Catholic High School in Las Vegas. They used to be located centrally located on Maryland Parkway but they are now located on Hualapai south of Russell Road in the southwest portion of Vegas. There are many other private schools, Meadows, Faith Lutheran, Las Vegas Day School, but Gorman is the only Catholic one. There are many elementary Catholic Schools peppered throughout the community but very few have any teaching nuns--mostly lay teachers, but small class size and good discipline are their highlights. If you need more info, call me at 702-375-7213 or use my email at Berger6@cox.net. Thanks for your inquiry!

Are you asking if there is public bus transportation near a particular property? Or do you need to know if children living at this address qualify for school bus transportation?
Please clarify the question.

To find the schools any address is zoned for, go to the Clark County School District website at the page below and enter the address. It works best if you do not enter the modifiers like street, road circle, etc.

http://ccsd.net/schools/zoning/search/

The site will also tell you if the address is eligible for bus pickup.

Good luck ,and we hope you're able to find the information you need.

Have a Great Day,

All of Clark County schools have a dress code but not uniforms. The dress code is about no hats, no gang colors or bandanas, no distracting hair, no spagetti strap tanks for females, dresses and shorts below the finger tips. Try googling Clark County Schools for the exact specifics but uniforms are not required at MJ Christiansen. We wish him the best in this new school and you in your new home! Kurt ... more

Hi Breeze,

Trulia has a page with reviews about this school:
http://www.trulia.com/schools/NV-Las_Vegas/Walter_Jacobson_Elementary_School/

I couldn't find anything online about a dress code at this school, and it is not a private school, so I am assuming their is no dress code beyond a normal dress code of presentability.

On Monday, you can call them direct and inquire: (702) 799-4320
