From a practical point of view many buyers will find a three bedroom two bath home with a garage more appealing than a 3/2 without a garage.

An apron added on either side of the driveway may minimize parking inconvenience. Necessity and quality of life should dictate your decision but it may be foolish to make changes without considering the property's resale value after these changes are completed.

Put a screen up of bushes / trees and make the other part of the yard very attractive to compensate for the ugly ,not usable other half. Depending who does it this might cost several thousands, since you need decent size bushes ,maybe a pond ,a gazebo,a patio,walk ways,etc .I hope that the sellers are willing to spend this money .
The general problem is that when a house is bought or build all the money is gone and very little is spend on landscaping. Curb appeal is only important when it comes to the resale.
