It definitely matters!
Given the fact the nearly 75% of newly licensed realtors "wash out" within the first 5 years, where you begin is absolutely critical. Further, the vast majority of these agents will identify the contributing factor being the lack of real support and guidance on the part of the broker/manager/company.
Too many agencies provide nothing more than "lip service" when it comes to truly helpful agent support. When you really look at their training program, it too often boils down to teaching people to do things their way.
All new agents should focus on two important issues....the first being, detailed and on going training that leads to results. The second being, part of a meaningful "mentor" program. One that allows you to shadow a successful agent and participate in every aspect of their business. And yes, you should receive some compensation....
Be careful....most agencies will tell you they have a great training program..."lip service!" It's up to you to weed out those that should be trashed before they waste your time and money.....
Hope this is helpful.
