This house was rented as of 12/23/2013. You might want to consider using a Realtor to help find rentals - many of the sites do not update regularly.

In general you will need the month in advance plus security deposit. There is most likely going to be a background check that you will be required to pay for. You will also be paying for heat and, if that is oil, you may have to arrange with the landlord for delivery payments and so forth. You will also most likely be setting up an account with the utility company or, alternatively, reimbursing the landlord for the utility bill. Most landlords will not risk having utilities turned off or having someone run out of heating fuel risking frozen pipes and system damage. ... more

Suzanne, 23 Brown Avenue does not appear to be foreclosed at this time. If you are asking because you see postings on the door, those postings mean that what we call a "preservation company" has changed the locks, secured and winterized an abandoned property. Foreclosure is a legal process and can take months or years to complete in our area. I have seen homes abandoned or posted for sometimes as long as 3-4 years without the formal process of foreclosure being completed.

If you are looking for a home to purchase in Ulster County, please send me an email at nowisthetime@hvc.rr.com to discuss your needs and desires - I would be happy to help you find and purchase just the right property.

Ruth, listings belong to the brokerage which has the signed listing agreement, but any real estate professional licensed in New York State is able to show a property and negotiate a sale. It can pay off to have your own representation by a separate real estate entity when negotiating the contract on a potential new home.
This particular property is a Win Morrison listing, but I would be more than happy to show it and represent you in the purchase.
Please call me at 845-750-4920 to arrange to see the property!

Hi, Martha,
You would be responsible for your own electric and gas, which would indicate that the heat is gas and you will be paying for your heat; the landlord does supply the hot water. This is a 5-unit building with an on-site superintendent. This property was recently listed for sale. If you are interested, I would be happy to act as your renter's agent on this. You can reach me directly at 845-750-4920.

Hi Joan,
Yes this can be frustrating at times but some sellers refuse to have interior pictures of their homes on the internet. I have noticed the home is in Mass. The question came through to Ulster county, New York! There is contact information for the listing realtor on the site and I bet she can assist you in getting more information and pictures to help you decide whether this home is something you might be interested in. You also might want to consider a buyers agent that can gather information for you and possibly weed out properties that you would consider unsuitable. Good luck in your home buying adventures. The interest rates are dropping and that gives you more buying power . ... more
