what a cop-out. 5 agents respond, not one with the ability to call the respective pd's and post the result. this informs me of 5 agents to avoid in my upcoming home search.

There seem to be a lot of confusing answers to the question asked. I've lived in Rosamond my entire life & I can tell you that it is a nice place to grow up. The east side has some nice neighborhoods, but the low income apt. they put in a few years ago has brought alot of undesired activity. The West side of town is the quieter more desireable part of town. The elementary school on the West side is also a better school than the one in the middle of town. All in all not much crime here, there are always gonna be a few bad apples, but for the most part it's pretty quiet around Rosamond. Lancaster & Palmdale are both alright if you prefer to live in a city. Much more crime though! I wouldn't recommend anything on the East side of either. ... more

Compared to urban living crime here is low low low. It's mostly domestic violence, traffic stops, or bored teenagers doing teenage stuff. No gangs here. Something to consider: if you have to commute for work your kids may be home alone after school unless you make arrangements. . . something else to consider, the cost of living here is so much less than the city, if you can stay home with your kids, that's priceless! ... more

I personally know someone who lives in Stockdale Greens and it is very safe neighborhood. For a number of years I was in and out of the neighborhood using their house as a second office due to the owner living out of town. I would consider Stockdale Greens one of the safest neighborhoods in Bakersfield without a doubt. If you are interested in purchasing a home in that community I would be more than happy to help you. Please feel free to contact me at Lori Greene (661) 219-4599. ... more

Hi Barbara and Steven,

By red zone, do you mean a house in an area that is red on the Crime Map? If not, could you clarify what you are referring to? Once you do so, hopefully we can help get your questions answered.

Thanks!

Hope,

Stay in the house until they offer you "cash for keys". Or until they serve you a proper 30 day notice at the very least. The other agents gave you sound advise on the other part, as far as reporting the crime. You are surely not financially able to move, this will get you money to move or time to save some money. Either way you will be a little better off.

I am a lender in Bakersfield. I have a few questions to better understand your dilemma and I'm curious why you haven't received the help you need yet.

From what I've read, the only thing I see that may become an obstacle is the fact that you already own a home. If you have equity in the home you currently own then it should not be a problem but if you do not have equity there may be an issue because you will have to be able to afford both your current house payment and the new house payment. If that is the reason you haven't got the help you need, I would suggest waiting to purchase until your current home is in escrow with a new buyer.

Also, condos can be tricky to get financed sometimes. There are some neighborhoods that have community pools. You could purchase a home that has many of the same amenities as a condo.

Feel free to call or email me to set up an appointment. The first step to buying is determining what you can qualify for and if there are programs out there that fit your needs.
