Hello Casco,
I've previously given advice on this very type of question before. Since Realtors are not allowed to give opinions on this topic, the best resources for you are to contact a beat officer for the neighborhood, sometimes to park in the area during a Friday or Saturday night and see if there's a lot of noise/quality of life issues. Good luck. ... more

Having lived in Illinois I can tell you that the state income tax is now about the same (with the recent tax hike in Illinois), depending on where in Lake County you live, property taxes will most likely be higher. Lake County has a food tax where Kenosha county does not. I'm not sure, but the utilities may be a little higher in Lake County. At one time Lake County was much more expensive to live in than Kenosha County, but they are about the same with Illinois being slightly higher in my opinion. If it's possible to live just over the line in Wisconsin, you may be better off. If you are planning on living in southern Lake County, you could be closer to your workplace and you would save time in the commute. But...gas is less expensive in Wisconsin so it may be a wash. ... more

Hello Lisa,

It's been awhile since you posted on this blog but I thought I would check and see if you had found a place to call home or are still looking.

Pleasant Prairie is a beautiful area. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss with you the steps in buying a home and helping you find the right house to make a home. I am licensed in Wisconsin & Illinois and located on state line 1 mile from Pleasant Prairie.

I also offer my first time buyers a 1 year home warranty with the purchase of a home.

As I stated on my earlier post ... the square footage of 1012 SF was taken from the city and county assessor's office ... that is probably why it's listed in the MLS with that amount. Unless there was an error by the Assessor's office ... the best thing is to go to the property and check it out! Wishing you the best. Let me know if you would like a private showing. I'll be happy to help you.

Happy New Year!
