Go to http://www.everyblock.com and it will give you crime reports of your neighborhood. The best way to find out is for you to drive around and walk around the area and observe.

Like most Chicago communities, we have found that our quality of life is enhanced by our connections with one another. South Shore is home to highly educated people: professionals, actively working or retired. And- of course- a few who don't fit that description. It is a great community and many residents are working to make it better.

Although we are not allowed to answer such questions, there are several websites where you can find this information. I reside in that zipcode, and I love the area.

Also, if you are interested in an area do your own due diligence by driving/walking through the neighborhoods.

Google it or visit the police head quarters they will be to help you the best. Or at least point you in the right direction .

The law says Realtors cannot comment on the crime rate. Your best option is the chicago police website clearmap application at http://gis.chicagopolice.org/ that will map crime in any neighborhood. Please note crime is all around us and in the best and worst neighborhoods. I personally would be more concerned about violent crime rather than simple theft.
