For an accurate picture of costs, contact a few local insurance agencies and ask for free quotes based on your needs--then choose the insurance package that best suits those needs...

Be sure to chose newer homes over old, block construction over frame and properties that are close to fire hydrants/ fire stations to keep your home insurance premiums down. If the property was built prior to 2002, have your home inspector complete a Uniform Wind Mitigation Inspection while he is on the job. Wind mit discounts can also save big bucks on premium.

Contact a local AAA office in Ocala and they can give you a ballpark figure for the type of home you are considering.

If we talking about homeowners insurance in Florida, except of your deductible, value of your home it also depends on the year the house was built.
Don't forget about hurricanes. If the property meet the Newest Hurricane Building Code Safety Standards insurance will be lower than, for example, insurance for the same house built 30 years ago.
Each area has different building codes, they are not the same all over Florida. Some builders show you shutters and you feel safer, but they might have used regular glass, where another builder has used 120mph wind resistant glass and no shutters, so it all depends on what that area has stipulated for the building codes.
