That location is definitely a borderline block. I have friends that live there and feel safe but it is worth driving by several times at different times of day to get a feel for the block. This is a good idea on any city block, but i highly recommend that in Francisville. Personally i think it is a fine block and i would be happy to live there.

If you are concerned about safety, your best source of accurate and up to the minute information is the local police department, consider a visit/call and hear all there is to hear firsthand; if unfamiliar with the area, do revisit more than once and at different times of day, piossibly chat with locals/neighbors; real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods...

As a realtor I can not say an area is safe or not. I can say that this area is a part of the revitalization taking place in that area.

Dana,

You can also post your question on "Philadelphia Speaks", http://www.philadelphiaspeaks.com/forum/forum.php, or contact the Francisville Neighborhood Association, http://www.francisvillendc.org/new/index.html.

As licensed agents we are not legally allowed to talk about whether a neighborhood is "safe" or not. Safe to you could be very different than safe to me or to anyone else.

Let me know if you need any other help.

Good Morning Dana,

Safety is a relative term. If you would like crime statistics http://www.phillypolice.com/about/crime-statistics/

Not that I don't appreciate the real estate perspective, but I'm aware of the legal trouble you guys could encounter.

Hi all!

Thanks for your input. From what I've found, there seems to be mostly thefts in that area. An occasional assault. Mostly occuring at night. I'll look into it. If any more non-real estate related people have input please do share!
