Hi Sherry,
I have been a resident of Fort Myers since 1982. I currently live in the zip area you have questioned since 2002. I love living here and enjoy the convenience of having access to the beach, restaurants, Gulf Coast Town Center, Miramar Outlets and the Coconut Point Mall. This is a close nit neighborhood of connecting communities both old and new. Just like anywhere else gated communities offer additional security for folks that are more seasonal residents or don't get a chance to know their neighbors.

Over the last few years you have probably heard about more petty theft in your own hometown just like everywhere there might be a vacant home. Our communities on the west coast of Florida are nothing like big cities and crime is comparably small as well.

When and if you do your research on crime in different areas you will be able to see the types or the number in a year. Based on that information and compared to other cities in the US that are also desirable destinations should give you a more positve outlook.

When you plan a visit I would like to show you around many areas of Lee County that might meet your search criteria for the type of residence you are looking for. Until then enjoy the link to the entire FL Gulf Coast MLS below.

This area code is in Lee County Florida. You would want to check the Sheriffs Department website to discover any information you are requesting. The website is http://www.sheriffleefl.org

I am from Tennessee and have lived in this area over 25 years raising 4 children. I find the people here warm and friendly and a great community spirit.

Sherry,
Before evaluating the level of Crime statistics in zip code 33967 or any other, ask yourself "What is the level in your current area".
As has been indicated by a number of the agents reporting, you can compare the statistics you have for San Carlos Park by visiting the websites indicated. You most determine what level is comfortable for you.

Real estate agents are not allowed to answer questions regarding crime rates. You can do your own research by visiting the Lee County Sheriff Depts website at http://www.sheriffleefl.org

It is illegal to answer that question as a Realtor. Your best bet is to call the local; police and ask them.

If you are concerned about safety, your best source of information is the local police department, therefore contact/visit with all your questions; if unfamiliar with the area, do visit more than once and at differernt times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors; real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office has a helpful incident by location tool on their website that you can use to identify crimes in a certain location: http://www.sheriffleefl.org/main/index.php?r=crimeActivity/i…

We would be happy to run custom MLS listing searches for you. Keep in mind that Homes.com, Trulia, Zillow, and Realtor.com. Etc. are all MLS syndicator sites that manually update listings versus a real MLS linked search as our website offers. In addition, the search we are allowed to offer our potential clients on our website by the National Association of Realtors (NAR) has less functionality than what I have available to me as a Realtor. It would benefit you greatly to work with us and have us do the searching and generate search results for you based on your search parameters. Costs nothing and saves you a ton of time. Let us know when you’re ready to share your search parameters and we will get started right away.
