The Pueblo State Hospital seems to import sex offenders which means that upon release, they stick around Pueblo. Most neighborhoods in Pueblo have upwards of 50 SO's per square mile--check your homes carefully: http://www.homefacts.com/address/Colorado/Pueblo-County/Pueb…
Pueblo, WAKE UP! Stop condensing the population into neighborhoods filled with offenders and other felons! No one wants this concentration of madness, and it's getting worse!

We own the home at 1044 E Abriendo Ave on the corner of Arroyo. We have owned it since 2003 and have seen the neighborhood improve immensely in that time. If you want more bang for your buck this is the area to purchase. It has only taken a few good people to purchase property to "turn it around." we have CYO for youth across the street and has obtained property which was condemed and quite an eyesore...this property is across the street from CYO and will be demolished soon...Lots of Older Owner occupied homes on my Block. and also young families purchasing "affordable" housing in a safe neighborhood. Lots of home purchasing programs available through Besemers Neighborhood Housing. Bessemer Academy a stones throw from this area. this school and Central High School have good reputations.

Bessmer is an Older Neighborhood --- Lots of people thave lived there a long time - you have renters & you hove new Buyers - but all in all if you are really concerned about the area you need to call the Pueblo Police Dept in Pueblo & get their comments on it or drive throught the area and ask neighbors about their thoughts on the safety of their area --- Let me know if you are interested - Laraine

Checking with the Police Department and asking neighbors are two very good ways to learn about a neighborhood, you might want to drive through the neighborhood at night, that will give you a good feel for the neighborhood.

There are a few websites you can go to to get that information just google safety in neighborhood and they should come up . Also a good place to get that information is the Pueblo Police department.

Hi mstrmce,

Usually the best way to get a feel for a neighborhood is to speak to the neighbors near and around the property you are looking into. When you go on a showing don't hesitate to chat with the neighbors :)
