Your child must have "severe needs" to qualify for services. This depends on the child's needs, but is most times a combination of physical, mental, and financial needs. We lived in VA, PA, and NC before TX where services were far superior to TX. Do extensive research, if your child does not qualify for services should save your taxes and live in a less expensive ISD because you will end up paying a lot for services out of pocket.

Hi
Thank you for asking this question. The other agents who have suggested that you contacted the school district directly are correct. Every child’s needs are different and it is most important that you and your child are both comfortable with the program that the district has in place. I wish you good luck in researching these programs. If I can be of any assistance to you please do not hesitate to contact me directly 817-729-4281.

I think it is pretty good. Carroll ISD is known for having a top notch school system.
However with that being said.....I would go talk to them.
Every child is different, their needs different, and the resources to assist them different.. Different teachers have different expertise, so I would go visit them.....tell them what your child's needs are, see what they're doing for children with similar circumstances or needs, and see if you can network with some other parents and see if it is a good fit for your family.

Lots of people pick schools and systems only based on a one word descriptor...like Exemplary....and how unfair I think that is to everyone involved. Some kids may excel no matter where you put them, some may fail wherever you put them, but some may do better if you put them in the right place for them, based on their ability and the school's ability to meet and challenge their needs.

The special education program at Carroll is regarded as one of the best around. Having grown up in Carroll ISD, I'd be happy to assist you with finding a new place in the district (not necessarily in Southlake) if that's your goal. Feel free to contact me at 817-903-5442 with any questions you may have.
