If you are walking at a leisurely pace from Halsted (800W) across the expressway and straight to the lake, you should be able to get there in about 20 to 30 mins.

It depends on how fast you walk!

Its only a few miles at best to get to the lake.

What part of the lake are you looking to go to?

Probably farther than 95% of folks are willing to walk. If you want to be within walking distance from the lake University Village is not a good area to be looking at. If you give me some criteria as to what you want/need, I can see what areas near the lake might work better.

If you look at the addresses of East west streets it will give you a good idea. The lower the number the closer to the lake. If you’re nearest street is let’s say 2200 W. such and such a street you are about 22 blocks away from the lake front.
I hope this helps.

Halsted is 800 west, so you would have to walk 8 Blocks East and then depends on where on the lake you want to be.
