There is little retail in uptown. What there is has already been mentioned. The retail centers are Southpark, Northlake, Ballantyne, Stonecrest, Blakney Heath, Birkdale, Northcross and Carolina Place. The most successful retail centers are located near interstates or high dollar homes. Concord Mills is a perfect example of a large mall with easy access to I-85, I-49, I-29, I-485. For uptown to have success in retail, it needs to be located with easy access to the Brookshire Freeway and I-77. The recent renovation of retail at Kings Drive (with Target, Home Depot, and Metropolitan as the anchors), was an effort to do that. I believe there is an opportunity to create retail near the Panthers Stadium. Women would love to shop while their husbands watched football!

John, Uptown has some retail on Tryon St, the Overstreet Mall and also Epicenter. If you need a grocery store, a Harris Teeter is located in Fourth Ward.

Hope this helps!
