Two-Unit Condo Association

Asked by David Stone, Mc Farland, WI Wed Jul 28, 2010

We are looking buying one unit of a side-by-side "duplex;" together the two units are a registered condo association. It seems wierd. What if the owners can't agree on needed repairs? Rock/Paper/Scissors? What if one owner can't afford upkeep on common elements? At present the assoc does not carry insurance on common elements, or liability; will I be able to get insurance for my unit?

You would have to look at the by-laws and determine how issues will be dealt with. Ryan K

Hi

You need to have an attorney review the master deed, by-laws and exhibits (drawings) for the association to determine the various implications regarding repairs, insurance, etc.
