Richardson, TX is it a nice place to raise a family?

Asked by Michele Salus, Burbank, CA Fri Mar 22, 2013

My husband may be receiving a transfer to Richardson, TX. We want to get as much info as possible on the area.

What shopping areas are around?
How are the schools?
Are there any areas to avoid?
Any areas that standout as the best?

Welcome to Texas and Richardson.
Great place to live.
Most people like Richardson ISD, Richardson is served by Plano ISD and Richardson ISD.

Some of the questions will be answered by the price range of the home you want to buy or rent.
There's everything from probably $100,000 to $2,000,000.

You can check out some of the school rankings on my website:

You may also want to look at this website for some demographic information.…

The people I know that live in Richardson really like it and are very loyal. There is a nice city overview happening on April 5th, if you would like to attend. Probably the best things are the location, it is very central to the Metroplex. Easy to get to lots of other places if you need to. Feels like a smaller city inside a big city....maybe not the same feel as Burbank, but if you sense a smaller community in Burbank vs LA, same idea. I think what many people like best is the schools. RISD is know as being a great school district. Perhaps not as popular as some of the newer cities, but still recognized.
Richardson at one time was probably center of the universe or one of the centers for the telecom business, and while that has subsided, I'd guess there are still lots of engineers around and there is a large TI plant there with probably lots of engineers and technical types, so the city may feel or even be smarter than average.

Hello Michele,

Richardson has a great city plan with quick access to many other suburbs of Dallas. As a Richardson resident myself, I picked Richardson due to the many parks, shopping, PISD schools and its centralized location to Dallas and Colin county area activities.

As you maybe closer to your transfer date, please review the information available on my website: to review your housing options.

Please call me, as I looking forward to speaking to you and answering your specific questions regarding Richardson while helping you with your relocation needs.

Hello Michele,

Richardson is a well preserved suburb with easy access to Dallas while keeping the suburban feel. It has highly desirable schools and plenty of nearby shopping. There are only three zip codes in Richardson to research; 75080, 75081, and 75082. Feel free to contact me and I would be happy to assist and forward you additional facts about the area.
