Refer to the Minneapolis website for more information on neighborhoods. There are crime maps and other stats that can hopefully help you out.

Your best bet is to drive through this area and actually speak with some of the homeowners.
The following web site provides a ton of neighborhood info:

While it does fly in the face of what the Dept. of Commerce finds acceptable for us to talk about, it is not "against the law" for agents to talk about crime stats and crime safety issues on this forum or any other. The reason for this is because the Dept. of Commerce thinks that if we give advice based on what WE think is acceptable, we may be "steering" you toward or away from an area based on the AGENT'S opinion. The Dept. of Commerce would rather you form your own opinion.

Brian Amiot gave you a wonderful website to seek information. It's more specific than some of the other websites listed here.

Good luck!!

It's not safe. If it was, these people would say so.

I attended grade school not far from your area of interest. Even then neighbors didn't feel safe outside after dark. I had friends living in the area and would not be allowed nor have the desire to leave their home after dark. Local crime maps can show you if there has been a change.

There have been no earthquakes in this area and a tornado hit North Minneapolis last summer, making it unlikely that another one will hit the same space. (Actually, the bit about the tornado is simply an old wives' tale.)

As far as 'safe' in other ways, I suggest that you drive around the area during different times of day and check on the statistics for the area on the internet to find out the information you seek. Your idea of 'safe' and someone else's idea of 'safe' might differ. This is something you would have to decide for yourself.

Hello, We are unable to say if an area is "safe" . You need to check the crime stats page for your state/county.
Good luck

Sorry, and you may not know this, but it is against the law for a Realtor to give you advice on the safety of a neighborhood. You need to check with the MPD (Minneapolis Police Department) for this sort of thing.

I would recommend that you call the local precinct, police station and ask the questions that concern you regarding any neighborhood. Also check different websites for statistic regarding areas through out different communities.
Examples would be:
Best of luck in your home search

Hi Pete,

Safe is a relative term and means different things to different people.

One aspect of safety could be measured in the amount of crime in an area.

Here is a link to recent crime maps in Minneapolis:

I hope this helps.
