Jamie Bryant, Renter in Phoenix, AZ

I am a single mother of 2 children, i have worked for the same company for 6 years now and lived in the PVUSD for 10 yrs and have to relocate

Asked by Jamie Bryant, Phoenix, AZ Sat Jan 8, 2011

immediately. I am having a hard time finding any homes for rent that will participate in the section 8 housing program. I dont understand why the landlords wouldnt want a guaranteed monthly payment. Is there anybody out there who has a 3 bed 2 bath available that would consider atleast educating the benefits of this program?

I am assuming you have already look at http://www.gosection8.com where most landlords seeking Tenants with Sec 8 vouchers list their homes. They want and welcome you. Check there, it can be a bit over whelming to call Landlord after landlord and ask do you take Sec 8. And your correct, a check every month on time is great, they even direct deposit now. At least the City of Chandler does .

I have two listings now that I would take Sec 8 on, our company has worked with the program for yrs.

I do not have any homes at the moment in PV.

Good luck in your search!

Hey Jamie, how are you?
I might have a program that you might be interested in. I work with a great lender and they offer a great opportunity. You could be on the path to owning your own home in no time, sometimes mortgage payments are cheaper than rent!
This program offers no cash down! If it sounds like something you might be interested in, and haven't yet found anything, feel free to give me a call at 480-275-9566.

Hi Jamie,
What area are you wanting to move to? I have a contact with Section 8, that I need to call on Monday regarding another section 8 property. I'd be happy to ask her best way to match you in your desired location.
You can email me at Carolyn@gsfinehomes.com if you'd like.

We have a 3 bedroom 1 bath home on 36th St. south of Greenway. I can email you an MLS plano if you like. We haven't investigated section 8. I assume some of your rent is paid through section 8. Are you looking for a long term lease 1-2 years? JJM

Jamie, it is mostly a matter of Landlords not understanding the program, availability of opening within that city and the time to qualify the property into the program. With the inspection process, in many cases a property will procure a standard tenancy before the process of getting into the program and securing a Sect 8 tenancy. It is my experience that given a bit of time and diligence you will identify a home that meets your needs/desires and will accept the voucher. Best of luck in your search.

Often times, the Landlords are limited from getting into the Section 8 program. Where are you trying to move to? Staying in the PVUSD area? I found 3 current listings that show they will accept Government programs but whether they are currently in the Phoenix program is not clear. Typically the Landlords don't know how to get the property into the system. The last time we tried, we were told there were no openings for our property in Glendale!

How much are you able to pay for rent? Why do you have to relocate immediately? You can contact me directly by viewing my profile or through my website below if you don't wish to share your info online.
