Since there is really no "local authorities" to really speak of (Maricopa Co sheriff presence off I-10 is very rare, fire dept is about it) who can you ask questions from...and the stats below don't really show all info either. Here's my view as 3-yr resident: There is plenty of wildlife in Tonopah area; snakes, scorpions, foxes, coyotes, lizards, hawks, vultures, wild burros, etc. not to mention all the dogs running around unleashed. My son is three and I'd never let him play unsupervised in our fenced back yard. All well water needs to be filtered. Without any street lights, it's really dark outside at night. It limits chances to go out for a walk, bike riding, etc when it's cooler early morning and late evening. There is no community parks, playgrounds, libraries etc in Tonopah, the nearest ones are 20+ miles west in Buckeye. So I'd not recommend this area for families with young kids.
