Finding fresh fish in Phoenix

Asked by Alison Hillman, San Francisco, CA Thu Aug 2, 2012

I am curious how fresh the fish is due to location and heat. Are there any specific farmer's markets or grocery stores that specialize in fresh fish?

Fresh fish is a little out of my area of expertise! but personally the best place in the valley for good seafood is the Blue Water Grill (formally the fish market) down on Camelback.

Once you get inland, or at least not near the appropriate fishing area, (read FRESH lobster in Texas), what you will end up with is FRESH FROZEN.
That is what the majority of fish eaters eat!
Fish starts to deteriorate minutes after being caught; it needs to be frozen immediately!
If it's hours or days to the table, it could be re-frozen five or six times.
Just a fact of life.
