I have had several clients over the years with disabilities. One of my builder clients just finished a renovation on a home in South Charlotte to make it completely accessible to it's owner. As for "money is an issue" -- we can discuss your options if you would like to call me. I helped a married couple who were both on disability to purchase a townhome near Matthews. We made sure it was easily accessible to transportation, medical / doctors offices, and shopping.

East Charlotte is lower cost and has some nicer neighborhoods. Also parts of South Charlotte and University. It depends on what other features you will want in the areas you will consider. And what type of home you are wanting: a detached home, a townhome/condo, or an apartment.

I always recommend that my clients drive through a neighbrohood they are interested in, preferably on the weekend when neighbors are home. Get out to Lexington Commons, get out of your car, walk around, say hello to folks outside and ask questions! The neighbors will tell you anything and everything - the good as well as the bad! They will tell you just how safe they feel in the neighborhood.

Best of luck with your move!

kelli,

Let me start by saying that in North Carolina it is against the law to steer a person or family toward one neighborhood or away from a neighborhood or area. However; thoguh I cannot give you my opinion on the neighborhood I can tell you where to go to find out the relevant information you need to make an informed descsion.

That street is part of the falconbridge subdivsion. It is made up of homes primarily built in the 1970's. The popularity is subject to an individual needs and wants. i can tell you that in the last six months there have been 4 homes in that subdivision that sold. Currently there is 5 on the market active right now. A balanced market (one that favors neither a buyer or a seller is considered to be six months of inventory avaialble). based on the past six months this neighborhood is pretty close to that.

The schools slated for that neighborhood are Pineville elementary school, Quaill Hollow Middle School and South mecklenburg High School. for additional information as to how schools perform in the charlotte area against other schools in the area and the state I found www.ncreportcard.org to be a great site. it will show you how the schools are trending, how they are doing against other schools in the area as well as the state.

In terms of safety and crime rate. No one can give you a definitive answer as to what that is. What one person may view as safe another may view as unsafe. The best thing I recommend to every client is to go to the charlotte website and type in the address and hit the crime stats for the area. It is www.charmeck.org

I hope this helps you out. if you have any other questiosn please feel free to either e-mail me or call me at 704-519-7895.
