It's a lot easier to just use a title company, especially when it's a higher-end property that requires a major investment and you have money to spare.

If you want to find out yourself, you can get an online report within few minutes on website such as http://www.nextace.com or http://www.searchq.com

You can download a title report that has mortgage record, ownership history, delinquent taxes even liens and foreclosure information.

Hi Andrejuan,

You can get an online report within just few minutes. As everyone said, go to Cook County Recorder of Deeds, then start your search by inputting the Property PIN or property address.

Below are the exact instructions:

1) Locate your property's PIN (Permanent Identification Number). It should be located on any tax related documents, closing documents or tax bill.

2) Locate your PIN. It's a total of 14 numbers, separated by dashes.
Example: 45-33-444-455-9848.

3) Log onto http://www.ccrd.info ( this is the Cook County Recorder of Deeds website).

4) Look to the left-hand corner of the screen for "Search our Records".

4) At the top of the page, there will be 5 boxes. Type your PIN in. This will return all recorded documents against your property.

Hope this helps!
