Ravilma,

Were you able to decide upon a neighborhood for your family. I was going to suggest Memorial and Heights area as well, since they are relatively closer.

Cinco Ranch is certainly one in demand. Moved a family from London there, a couple of years back and they love it. They rented first to get the feel of the place. They were particular about the schools in Katy.

Traffic is something to contend with in Houston depending on where you live. You can, however, use the HOV lanes or EZ Tag lanes to move quicker.

Welcome to Houston.

Please feel free to connect with me if you have any questions. All the best.

LaKeisha, how long since you have had a broken lease?

Some apartments do accept broken leases, however, they may charge you extra deposit. They mostly don't work with recently broken leases.

I suggest you Google "Apartment Locators Houston." There are dozens of them, and they have a better handle on that portion of the market. Many excellent units are not listed in MLS. You should find something both comfortable and affordable. Best of luck. ... more

Both Katy and Sugarland are very family friendly. In making a decision - I would recommend a location close to work to help you make a decision. You should also be pre-qualified before you start shopping; so that when you make an offer the seller will be more willing to accept your offer. I can assist you, and also see if we can qualify you for Grant programs for first time home buyers, depending on the area you end up looking in. I would love the opportunity to speak with you. You can reach me at 713-569-0025 or email: Mary.Papageorge1@gmail.com. - Good luck! Mary ... more

Good Afternoon Marisol,

The Galleria is considered a very nice area and there are many affordable options for you in temporary housing. The housing market here compared to California is a very affordable market and you are getting 2-3 times the size for the same price. My husband is from California so we are aware of the housing and prices in California. Give me a call when you get into town and I can help you. If you send me your email address I can forward you homes that will match your criteria. I look forward to helping you.

Armando Aguilar answered:
There are three types of apartments that I have seen and lived in; Rich, Working Class, and Poor. I am currently in a working class apartment where it's close to everything but not inside the city and I pay $470 for rent. If you want really nice apartments, there are some still not in the city but are still around the $700's. If you want the poorer ones with all bills paid, they are $270 with cable, etc. You just have to know where to look. Not all apartments are listed online, it's easier to just drop in one and see for yourself. I live in East Houston, just outside of the city and am currently looking to rent my first home. Even the rental homes are cheap-$500 to $2300 a month for some of the homes. And nice ones are only $1200 a month. So it really depends on what area you want to live in and where you would be working.

-From a fellow renter, not an agent.
