FYI -- Trulia isn't a lender, a real estate company. You'll need to contact a local lender and start a loan application. Then you need to hire a REALTOR who can search for condos in your price range, and that qualify for whatever loan you choose. ... more

I know your question is from several months back but I'm just seeing it. Homewood is a very nice community and we have lived there for 18 years. We moved from Pelham just because we want to raise our kids in Homewood. The neighborhoods are great and the schools are perfect for us. It's a very sought after real estate market and school system. As far as safe, it's as safe as you make it. You have to be active in the community and keep an eye out for neighbors regardless. All of the elementary schools are top performing academically. Our High School Band starts training kids in the 6th grade and has been invited to perform in the Macy's parade and Rose Bowl multiple times. There's a niche for everyone in Homewood even if you don't have kids! I hope this helps! ... more

Buying to flip is still a risky proposition. However, Hollywood is a niche area where it can be profitable if you can buy the property right. I would be conservative and figure holding cost at double the average days on the market. This neighborhood demands highend finishes, quality work and lots of architectural details so a quick paint and flip is not advisable. Higher end homes sales are up 25% in 2012 and I expect this to continue trending. Feel free to contact me to discuss your specific goals.

Are you sure that is the correct address? Generally, a Google search of the address will result in the name.

Cant go wrong with any of the areas. Also, Shelby County which is slightly south of Birmingham is a great option. Typically, you can get a bigger home for a smaller price the further south you go into Shelby. Good luck. ... more

I would try and talk to a lender/mortgage broker about the options you have as far as getting a loan with poor credit. You may have to make a larger down payment but it is possible.

Please refer to my blog post about getting a loan with bad credit. (Link below)

http://www.trulia.com/blog/isiah_youngblood/2012/04/getting_approved_for_an_fha_loan_with_bad_credit

But again, the best way to get the best answer you seek would be speaking to a lender and see what happens. If you do not currently have a Realtor that you're working with, please contact me. I would be happy to assist you with any further real estate needs or questions you may have.
Good Luck!
