Advertising. In these times finding a broker who is connected with a company that believes in advertising and co broking. Our company, Coldwell Banker Previews International advertises our listings on 63 websites, we have a global network, over 4200 offices and to top that, we put our listings on websites of other brokerages to attract the most coverage possible.
On top of that, it is important that your agent advertises as well and is available when people call who cannot make it to an open house.
Open house times are still best on Sunday's, between the hours of 12 to 3 PM.

The best way to generate foot traffic is done by MAJOR EXPOSURE, which is done by marketing online and offline.
If your property is:
1- Well priced;
You did your homework and compared your property with all the ones recently sold
and came up with the right sale price.
2- Well presented;
Cleaned, painted, de-cluttered and fixed odds and ends and possibly staged the home.
3- And Well exposed,
Advertised and marketed your property on the internet and offline.
You will be able to generate a lot of foot traffic. As a result, you will be able to sell your property pretty quickly.
You do not have to have a specific time to have an Open house. Buyers will find you. Properties are sold these days without even having the first Open house. That is how fast a property are selling. It all depends on how well the property is priced, marketed, packaged and exposed. BUT if you want to have an Open house, it is usually done on Sundays from 12 to 3pm.

The best way to generate traffic is through the broadest exposure possible. If you are trying to sell on your own, you should be aware that 86% of For Sale by Owners end up listing it with a broker. Of those that succeed in selling on their own, they average 25% lower in the price they get compared to comparable properties sold by an agent. In a downward market as we have right now, time is truly costing you money, as you are chasing a downward spiraling market. Do you have a co-op, condo or townhouse? If you are considering listing it, I'd be happy to tell you what to look for in an agent to make sure they are the right agent for you.

Adina is on the mark with advertising from the agent/broker perspective, but it looks like your trying to do it yourself. Balloons and a side walk sign still work if the signs are placed at both or all four corners surrounding the home. If possible, post store front signs for your open house. You can also generate a little extra foot traffic by sending notices to your neighbors.
