When you talk to the Realtor(R), make sure you ask him/her about this very issue. Commissions are, by nature, negotiable. Getting your home sold for the right price and promptly is much more valuable than the amount you will be asked to shoulder for commissions.

Sorry for the non-responsive spam. Agents and companies all charge different fees depending on the business model. Some will be higher than others, some will claim more service than others, some will be very low and promise no service.
Your job is to figure out which model works best for you. In my experience the model that consistently provides the greatest return for the seller is a full service dedicated agent. Not all high priced agents are really full service and not all "discount" agents are a bargain. Talk to several agents, ask what they charge, what they do for that fee and then get references.
I'm not quoting X% because it breaks the law to do so. Commissions by law are negotiable and quoting the Standard or even Average, breaks that law.
Commissions are divided between the listing office and the selling office. Just make sure, whatever you pay, you offer a competitive rate with other similar homes to yours to remain competitive.
