Staging a home has never been so important. Clear away the clutter, clean really well...and appeal to the senses of the buyers...with fresh smelling candles...or flowers. Closets will appear larger when organized....get rid of things you are not wearing or using....instead of moving all of those things...clear out now. This will make your space seem larger. If your cabinetry is dated or dark, you might consider painting. Paint is cheap and makes the space brighter and seem larger. The key is to keep the spending at a minimum while making the space look updated and fresh. Kitchens and baths are important ....so focus on those areas first...
Light fixtures can be replaced......key is to get a clean simple look and stay in budget.
It is difficult at this time to do a total remodel unless you purchased the house many years ago or got a great price and are looking to redo. If the house is empty....fresh paint and flooring is first....Remember most of the time buyers cannot see past the stained carpet, unusual paint colors and etc. So neutralize and brighten! Good Luck.
