Suspicious appraiser

Asked by Anna, Pennsylvania Fri Sep 20, 2013

Hello everybody
I need help. We own a house, and are planning to sell it. We contacted a licensed appraiser, who visited us the following day. His service was paid the same day. It has been almost four weeks, and we still have not received our appraisal report. He does not return our calls, nor reply our emails. Upon submitting a personal check payable to him (not his company), he did not issue a written receipt. Isn't his behaviour suspicious? I do not know what to do, and I am very worried. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Anna,
Follow the cookie crumbs to locate the appraiser. Use the same path used to locate him initally.

Now it's time to call a real estate professional. Those we recommend can be found and will advise regarding the challenges a buyer will encounter. (THIS IS INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT) Based on this information, you and the agent you hire can create the best strategy for getting your home sold.

Now, your real estate professional can use the resources they have to 'sic the dogs' on the rogue appraiser. Appraisers are not happy knowing their are predators wearing appaiser clothes.

It time to pick up the phone and call a local professional. Most of them will provide their direct number for you as they respond to your question.

Best of success in selling your home.

Appraisers can be slow, but not that slow. Sorry to say this is why you get a Realtor to do it for free for you. Good luck, sounds like you will need to call that Realtor.

First, call the company. Next, if you get no satisfaction, find out which agency licenses appraisers in your State and report him. Third, contact your attorney.
