No real benefit that I can see. I could see a company pushing that agenda by referencing their referral network and lead generating capability. To which I say, "big deal." The property will be available to sell via the MLS, so don't hitch your wagon to an agency just because of the promise of possible buyers. If they have potential leads for your property, they will attempt to sell it regardless of whether or not they have the listing. When I place out of area referrals, I like to find out which brokerages are the real movers and shakers. More than once I have gone outside of my own company to refer an agent that I felt was the best qualified. I recommend you do the same. I start with companies that have national name brand recognition, but only as a default. Sometimes the strongest local player can be "Zippy's Real Estate." If that is the case, ask Zippy where to sign.
