If a agent has a listing on the MLS and the seller verbally extended the contract.Meanwhile another agent

contact your client and your client advises him you are his agent. 2 weeks later he approaches your client,advises them if she hasn't signed an extension he can represent her and the buyer. This will save her money. Can anything be done because I did not have the extension in writing?
