Upgrading kitchens and baths are one of the best ways to add value to your home. However, one needs to be careful of the items that are upgraded. What improvement is needed most? What shape are the counters in? What about the sink and faucets? Not to mention the appliances. Of course one always has to consider the cost of your upgrade. Is the upgrade cost beyond what can be recovered in the sale price?
If the floors are in bad shape then they should be redone. However, if it is in passable condition, then maybe counters and sink or appliances might be a more effective upgrade.
