I would suggest you visit with family and/or friends in the Austin area and ask for recommendations, then interview 2 or 3 of those real estate professionals to find someone you feel comfortable with and someone who is knowledgable of the Central East Austin area. Best wishes!

I'm not sure Vickis is paying attention anymore as she asked the question in July. Her property may have been sold, remodeled and sold again in that time!

Hi Vickis --

I have a huge appreciation for Central/East Austin as I live and own rental properties in the community. Who better to share this enthusiasm and knowledge of the area with prospective buyers?! :) Aside from that, I have a huge commitment to continued and advanced designations to ensure that I provide the highest level of knowledge and service to my clients. I'd love to be considered an agent you interview to sell your home. Best of luck to you and I hope I can be of assistance!

If you are like most in the area and owe more than the value of your property, speak to a short sale specialist. Check out -

talk to someone that lives and breathes this area of Austin, Maybe a resturaunt owner or small business owner in that part of town On a guess I'm thinking this would be area 3,5,or 9 just east of 35 on the MLS boundary map, call area for sale signs to see what they are asking, only you no what is most like the home you are selling, remember, like size, like year. like kind. very important

Vickis,
I was visiting Trulia today looking for information and noticed your question. Did you find an agent that you felt comfortable with? If not, I recommend George Weil of Easy Street Properties. He's experienced, knowledgeable, and savvy about the East Austin market. Most importantly, he's REAL. You can reach him at 512-565-7612, or realtorweil@gmail.com

Best of luck to you!

Hello Vickis
I woould start with the agent that sold the property to you. If its been a while or the agent is no longer in business maybe reach out to a family member or friend for a referral. I hope that helps.

Vickis,

While you should definitely hire a realtor who works east Austin, who is savvy, who you get along with, etc, you should also consider hiring a realtor who works with lots buyers. That might sound silly because while you want someone who knows how to sell...you also want someone that know what buyers want.

We all have access to the same information. It's just a matter of finding that perfect blend of realtor who is going to help you sell your home and not just throw a sign in your yard and a lockbox on your door.

Best of luck to you!

With kind regards,

You need to feel comfortable with the person selling your house: both their Real Estate and Communication skills. Marketing is key! Without giving you my listing presentation in front of God and everyone, let's do coffee. We can meet at my office or at one of the great coffee shops in Central East Austin.

My website below will give you a glimpse of how I market a listing. Best of luck!

If you are a first time home seller, I will explain to you the selling process, what it involves, how to prepare the home for sale and what my role would be, how I would market the house and most importantly, we will discuss what the house is worth based on other sales in the neighborhood and what you can sell it for. Vickis,

a lot depends on what you're hoping to accomplish, in what time frame you hope to accomplish it, what type of property you are trying to sell and how much equity, if any, you may have in your property. East Austin is very transitional right now so a lot depends on your product and location.

If you have plenty of time, you may want to attempt to sell it on your own. If you're on a shorter time frame and you have equity, you may wish to hire a realtor. If the home has signficant deferred maintenance, you may want to reach out to investors. It's hard to narrow down an answer without more information from you.
