and needs updating. It is currently occpied by relatives.

I plan to move back to Atlanta, hopefully before the year is out, I am considering selling and downsizing., I need contact information for reputable home im\provement companies tio makek needed repairs and improvements. Prior to contracting for work on my house, I would like to have it evaluated by a qualified housing inspector in order to advivse of any deficiencies that need to be corrected.

Since I have been away from the city for over 20 years, I don't have information on reputable people to assist me. I previously had work done on the house, but was not satisfied. What can I do to try to get the right people for my needs?

I live nearby in Kirkwood and the houses on Alston and Allendale and the surrounding streets are really nice - nice big lots and beautiful old houses. New construction in the $800's too - a lot has happened in 20 years!

Let me suggest two people to call:

Jim Logan - Extreme Inspections at 404-402-2790. Jim has taken older houses apart and put them back together. He is an experienced inspector, with 1000's of inspections under his belt and his certifications speak for themselves. If you have significant deferred maintenance, he will help you with a plan to cure the problems.

Dana James lives in Candler Park. He owns and operates Dragonfly Renovations. You can reach Dana at 404 521 3441. He's honest, reliable and fair. He's hardworking and detail oriented.

I work with an excellent handyman who is based in Kirkwood, just 5 minutes away. Let me know if you need his number for smaller budget repairs.

Good luck with this transition, and please call me if I can help you or your family.

I am a Realtor in Hall County GA and my husband is a General Contractor with numerous remodel, repair and continued maintenance references from customers in the area and all around the perimeter. He is currently working with a Real Estate agent in the Briarcliff/North Lake area who is renovating a home for resale. Contact me if you would like more information. 770-654-4552

I think you should find a Realtor that does business near your home in East Lake and has experience with renovating to sell homes. Your Realtor will have a good inspector and know qualified contractors that have also renovated with the intent to sell on the retail market. If your Realtor has experience renovating to sell, he can also help guide you as to what repairs and renovations have the highest impact on sales price and days on the market.

Should you choose to go this route, I would like to throw my name into the hat for interviews for the job.

You've come to the right place. You'll get a lot of referrals here. Of course, having a "connected" Realtor is a great first step (that's a bit self serving).

Here's my recommendations

Harmony Home Inspections
Hank Spinnler
* Hank is a man of integrity and ASHI certified. He'll shoot straight with you.

Richard Bowden Jones
* With over 20 years of building and restaurant interiors, this is one of my most trusted connections.

Call me if you have any questions 770-374-4667.

Good Luck!

Woody Woods - 770-527-8286 is a very good inspector. Once you have identified what needs to do done then look at contractors that specialize in those fields. If you need help with the contractors I will be happy to assist you then also.
