If you are in PA and the house you wish to rent out is in zip 95111 (San Jose, CA) I would recommend you find a property manager. Traveling across the country to monitor the condition of your home would be more expensive than hiring a property manager.

If the home you wish to rent out is in PA, your best options may be quite different from the San Francisco Bay Area. (your question is posted under home selling in zip 95111). Locally is a very good place to offer homes for rent. If you advertise your personal email and/or phone number you may get unwanted questions for months or even years.

If you promote your rental over the internet, also consider Many real estate web sites pull information from there.

I suggest Craig's and lists, these are popular sites for rentals.
Other options;
Real Estate Offices, realtors often have investors looking to rent out newly purchased property.
Property Management Companies, they may charge a rental fee once the property is rented.
Local newpaper, small ad fee

It is a Great time to Sell! Have you considered just cashing out
and letting someone else have the headache of being a landlord?
Please give me a call if you would like to talk about it.

Hi Suzy,

To my knowledge, Trulia does not take private listings for home rentals from individuals due to the large potential for rental scams. You can list your rental on places like and Craigslist. Given the current rental shortage, you should have no time at all finding a qualified renter.

Good luck!
