Typically, when a homeowner has too many claims, brokers will not insure you. However, there are alternatives. As long as you have been turned away by two or more insurance companies, you can obtain a policy through The Fair Plan. Below is the link for the state of California. Good luck!

We are running into this more and more these days. Insurers are hesitant to insure properties that have multiple claims. They share information over something called the C.L.U.E. report (Comprehensive Liability Underwriting Exchange), and if they spot a home that has too many claims on it... you will have difficulty finding insurance.

Good luck.

Get a home inspection, get a home warranty, turn these items over to the next insurance company you call. Insurers don't want to insure places that have multiple defects. If every time something breaks you're filing an insurance claim instead of trying to fix these things from your own funds, maybe it's a good time to sell & get a place that is newer or has less problems.

I can help you with this.

Shoot me an email directly, I don't look back on this same Trulia posting for answers after mine.
