I purchased a home with a sinkhole claim. How can I get insurance for the property?

Asked by Jeanne, Montour Falls, NY Tue Nov 12, 2013

citizens insurance has a monitoring report saying the sink hole has been repaired but can't release the info because the report technically belongs to the previous owner . The previous owner is bitter and is unwilling to sign a waiver.

If you are referring to the realtor.....he did not believe the sinkhole was repaired....we were planning on spending the money to repair it and then get insurance....we found out quite by accident that it had already been done.

I am no insurance agent, but why would the insurance company not release if you can show proof you are the new owner? This seems a bit outrageous. You may want to use a scare tactic with the company and ask an attorney to do a letter. Best of Luck !
