Flood insurance information on GSMLS?

Asked by Dawn, New Jersey Tue Aug 12, 2008

I have noticed that the GSMLS listings no longer include information on whether or not a home requires flood insurance. Does anyone know why?

Hi Dawn,

Gina already answered this one, but you know you can look the flood zone determination up at the source, right? Click the link for FEMA's website and enter your map search based on address. You do not have to buy the flood maps to view them.

Hi Dawn, Gina's given you the answer. This is a very recent change - just implemented in the last month.

Per the GSMLS, "the Flood Area and Flood Insurance fields have been removed from the MLS due to the resulting litigations caused by them." [direct quote from the GSMLS Notices]
