Richard rates depend on many different factors - age of home, roof shape, construction, occupancy and location. That particular home is in an an inland zip code so your rates should be fairly reasonable. Since it is older I would recommend getting a wind mitigation inspection done. This inspection is strictly done to provide credits on your insurance policy and can result in reducing your premium by up to 70%. The cost to get the inspection done is approximately $100, however the credits can result in hundreds of dollars of savings and are good for up to 5 years if you stay with the same insurance company. This home is also in a higher risk flood zone so you would need to get flood insurance as well if you are going to have a mortgage on the property. The current owner or realtor should be able to provide you with a copy of the elevation certificate to get a rate for that. If you are coming from another state don't be surprised if your insurance here in this area is 2.5 to 3 times higher than up north. Unfortunately you are paying for hurricane exposure. If I can be of further assisatance or you would like a firm quote please feel free to call me at 239-433-7191 or email me at email@example.com .
