Hi Joe, I am going to echo what Ken stays below, but change it a little:

-Don't copy your social security card
-Nothing different for foreclosures unless they ask

What neighborhood(s) are you considering?

Typically you will need the following.

1. Last two years W-2's
2. Last two months Bank Statements (all pages)
3. Last two paystubs (30 days worth)
4. Clear copy of your Drivers License and Social Security Card
5. A company you would like to get Home Owners Insurance through
6. Purchase Agreement

If I can help you further please let me know.

Generally you'll need two years of tax returns, bank statements, they will have to run your credit, and you'll also have to get employee reference letters. There are many other documents you'll need, but to get started on your pre-approval you simply have to find a mortgage broker and speak with them. They can walk you through what they need in order to get you pre-approved for your loan.

I would be happy to recommend some mortgage brokers that I work with.
