If you want to see the actual tax bill for a property in Marin County, you can find it on the Marin County website.
Go to: http://www.co.marin.ca.us/depts/AR/compass/index.asp and enter the parcel number of the property. It will show you the entire current tax bill. Maryann

The property will be reassessed at the purchase price as of the date of the sale. the base tax is 1% of the purchase price. However, that doesn't include additional assessments or charges that are over and above the base tax such as mosquito abatement, school bonds/assessments, sanitary/sewer district assessments, etc. etc. which usually end up being approximately an additional .2-.25%. The lenders typically calculate 1.25% per year.

Hi Ronnane,

Check out this site for some more info:

Also, if you take the purchase price and knock three zeroes off, you will get an approximate cost of taxes per month. For rough estimates only.

Hope this helps!

Hi Ronnae,
As a rule of thumb you can use 1.2% of the purchase price as a rough estimate. Property taxes will vary from location to location, but this will give you a ballpark estimate.
