As Jessica mentioned Staten Island's crime statistics (as published by the NYPD compstat) can be accessed by visiting, as far as walking into a local police station and inquiring as another poster suggested, well that's not very practical. Perhaps elsewhere it would be, but here the Police men and women are often to busy working hard to smooze with each inquiry, nor are they permitted to offer off the cuff personal opinions as to crime statistics.

As far as safety concerns, your best source of information is the local police department, why not stop in/call, ask all your questions and hear all there is to hear firsthand--or if the opportunity arises chat with the neighbors/locals.

Sunset Hill is a beautiful area. The comps that are most relevant to your purchase are what actually sold in the area in the last 6 months because thats what the appraisers use. You can search for both homes that have sold in the area, and crime rates through our website You will find a link there to the NYPD website for the crime stats and another link to MLS where you can check what sold there. It's a lovely neighborhood and the access to parks and transportation make it very appealing. I wish you all the best with your purchase!

I see you are interested in safety and values. If by Safety you mean crime statistics, then call 311. They will refer you to the local precinct, which can supply you with all the information that you may need.
And Value is not the same as Price.
Contact a Staten Island Realtor, we will be happy to help you.
