Asked by Cc Home Buyer, Sandwich, MA Thu Mar 15, 2012

In particular, 1) if any reports on health risk to residents? and 2) if surrounding real estate market prices are affected?

The website given in the past 2 answers is the best one to check. The information about the clean up and the history of the plumes is great and should alleviate your fears. Homes are on town water which is tested on a regular basis and test wells have been drilled in various locations. I've sold many homes in Forestdale to buyers who love the area. It is true that the home values may be slightly lower but don't listen to rumors, get the facts!
Feel free to call me for a more in-depth conversation.

While the MMR has done a tremendous amount of work to clean up this mess, there is certainly still a stigma that lingers over the concerns of the pollution in the areas affected. Your best source for information on where these problem areas are and what's been done to address the different plumes and different types of contamination is http://www.mmr.org If i can be of any help with your home buying in Sandwich or anywhere on the Cape feel free to contact me. I've been in Sandwich for 20 years and on the Cape for 40 plus. Best of luck.
